NTCC- Newsletter July 31, 2006

On behalf of the Board and Membership of the NTCC, we send out our thoughts and prayers to the family of Don Nevins. Don was a longtime civic activist, resident of Pebble Creek since 1986 when people still called Bruce B. Downs “the road to nowhere”. I had the pleasure of serving on 2 Boards with Don, The New North Transportation Alliance and The New Tampa Transportation Taskforce with brought Hillsborough County and Pasco County officials together to discuss transportation issues in New Tampa and Pasco County. Recently, with the help of Carol Poland, Don helped us schedule an upcoming emergency preparedness presentation on August 24 at 6:30pm at the Holiday Inn Express across from Muvico. At this presentation, Bonnie Goodwin who is in charge of CERT for all of Hillsborough County and Chief of Fire Rescue Mike Gonzalez will discuss important information needed in case of an emergency in our community. The Board felt this is critical information given the last few hurricane seasons. We hope you will be able to attend and learn how to be better prepared for you and your family’s welfare.

We are still in need of sponsors for The New Tampa Art Festival on November 18 & 19. For a $500 sponsorship you will have recognized at the festival and have the ability to have a booth at the festival to promote your business. Vince Heilman, the Chairperson of our nominating committee, is reviewing Board applications and should have a slate ready to be introduced by the August 24th meeting. Ballots will be mailed to all members right after Labor Day and all ballots must be received on or before our Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, September 28th at 6:30. We are currently taking reservations for booth space which is free to NTCC business members or $75 to non-members, but includes a one year business membership. Thanks to the efforts of Sammy Veinger, Marketing Director for Real Health & Image, the NTCC held it’s first of our monthly networking socials at The Palms on Thursday, July 27th. About 40 people attended and we hope that it will grow to 100 or so as the word spreads. If you need information on the August meeting and/or would like to donate a door prize, contact Sammy at 813-774-2009.

The kids are back in school so please be extra careful while driving through our neighborhoods.
