September NTCC Newsletter
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Don’t forget to take advantage of a great business opportunity, the New Tampa Community Council Business Expo and Annual Meeting on Tuesday, September 28th at 6:30pm at the Wingate Inn – New Tampa (www.WingateNewTampa.com). The hotel is located in the heart of New Tampa at 17301 Dona Michelle Drive. Call Regina Ramalheira at (813) 977-7355 for available booth space. Space is limited so call today.
Please return your ballots either to our P. O. Box or to the annual meeting to vote for our wonderful slate of candidates. Speaking of voting, make sure you vote for our county commission candidates. It really doesn’t matter whom you vote for, JUST VOTE! And ask your neighbors if they are voting. If you want our politicians to consider us serious when it comes to our needs. YOU MUST VOTE !
After attending several transportation update meetings, I must report that many of our transportation projections will at least begin in 2005: * Widening of Cross Creek * The “Fly for I-75 south, the bridge over I-75 to Commerce Parkway * Widening of Bruce B. Downs Also, key elements of the now famous EAST-WEST CONNECTOR will commence and even be completed in 2005. This is the culmination of years of meetings and efforts of hundreds of public servants and citizens just like you. Have you tried to get to work at 7am? You know the need for these improvements. Please know about what is happening and how it may affect you and your neighbors. Remember the conveniences we enjoy come at a price, be a part of the solution.
I was recently asked about commercial development in New Tampa. It seems that we have been on the wrong end of the commercial development scale for along time. Ask yourself, do we have all the best retailers in our area. The answer is NO. Why, because first come first serve. The preferred retailers have waited for “roof tops” and other indicators. Now there is yet another “Town Center” boutique type commercial development planned. In the past our developers have talked with the “high end” retailers and were told not now. (Note the Outback presence in New Tampa, the second and only other Leroy Selmon’s) Don’t get me wrong we appreciate the “Leroy’s”, but we’ve been told we don’t have the demographics. This is why the NTCC is considering a economic development movement to attract the “right” type of business. Join the NTCC today and improve your community.
This is my last Newsletter as President, thank you for the great support you have shown New Tampa. GET OUT AND VOTE and welcome back Julie Rinaldi.
See you at the Business Expo/Annual meeting, Frank Margarella President
