NTCC AUGUST NEWSLETTER

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The nominating committee has a slate of candidates for the upcoming election. In order to better familiarize yourself with who is committing to service to the New Tampa Community, we are including their names and brief bios (see below). The Board is truly grateful for the interest these individuals have displayed in serving their community and allowing the New Tampa Community Council to continue its good work.

Ballots will be sent to NTCC members the first week of September. All ballots must be returned to The Council by the Wednesday, September 28th Annual Meeting at the Wingate at 6:30pm.

Please don’t forget the County Commission Candidates Forum on Wednesday, August 11th at 6:30 at The New Tampa Regional Library and our Annual Meeting on Tuesday, September 28th at 6:30pm at the New Tampa Wingate Hotel. There will be a Business Expo held at that meeting and the new Board will be announced call Jamie Thorne at 973-9919 for details and booth reservations.

New Board Candidate Info:
Robert Armstrong is a West Meadows resident who is married with two children. He is a former Navy Seal and Police Officer who was wounded in the line of duty. Currently, Robert is a regional manager for a national pest control company. As a resident of New Tampa, he feels he can contribute to the growth and development of our community.

Leonard Contardo has over 12 years of experience in the field of human resources and career development. He has assisted over 2,000 professionals secure employment through his unique job search model. In 2003, Leonard relocated to Tampa to focus full-time on his consulting practice. Phoenix Career Services, offering coaching and support services to professionals. Previously, he served as Assistant Executive Director for Career Development and Human Resources at the Georgia Tech Alumni Association. A nationally requested speaker, he presents workshops and seminars to audiences of 5 to 500 covering a wide range of job search topics. Leonard has been interviewed by Tampa Bay’s 10 News, the Atlanta Journal & Constitution and Electrical Engineering Times. Active in the community, he serves as special consultant to the New Tampa Community Council Board of Directors, on the Taste of New Tampa committee and leads the Career Support Ministry at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. He holds an MA in Organizational Management and a BS in Business Administration. Leonard is married, has two children and lives in Hunter’s Green

Reverend Shelor is originally from Black Mountain, North Carolina and now lives in Arbor Greene. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, a Masters of Divinity and will be awarded his Doctor of Ministry in 2005. He has served in churches in Georgia, West Africa and is currently serving as pastor of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church here in New Tampa. He is married to Roberta (Bert) and has two children, Graham and Lillie Parke.

Christopher Thurow, II is a Tampa native who currently resides in Pebble Creek. He is a member of the Greater Tampa Chamber Emerge Group, Wesley Chapel Noon Rotary and was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Wesley Chapel Chamber. He has recently relocated to the New Tampa office of Edward Jones Investments and is interested in becoming active here in the New Tampa community.

Craig Williams has lived in Tampa Palms since 1997. He recently opened a computer solutions business in the Pebble Creek area. Craig believes that he can contribute to our community and promote positive change for our area.

Mary Ann Yaney was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. She has been a resident of Meadow Pointe for over three years and works for AmSouth Bank. With over 17 years in the banking field, Mary Ann is anxious to become involved in the New Tampa Community.

Returning Board Members up for nomination are as follows:

David Larson has been a resident of Hunter’s Green for six years. He is a licensed commercial real estate broker who is currently the managing partner for two hotels in New Tampa. David has been a NTCC member for his entire stay in New Tampa and has served two years on its Board of Directors. David is seeking one of the one year terms that are available.

Frank Margarella has been a resident of New Tampa since 1991 and is currently residing in Hunter’s Green. He is a real estate professional and consultant who is the current president of the Board of Directors. Frank also serves as the Chairperson of The New North Transportation Alliance and a member of the executive committee for the Taste of New Tampa. He is actively involved in the community and has helped numerous causes in the New Tampa area.

Todd Wiener, d.m.d.: Dr. Wiener has been a member and officer in the New Tampa Community Council since its inception. His general dentistry office has been open for 27 years in the New Tampa area. Dr. Wiener has been active in many New Tampa events and plays a key role in the success of the Taste of New Tampa. He currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors.
