NTCC July Newsletter
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The time is upon us to select a new board. As the board ponders possible expansion from 11 seats to 13 or 15, we are looking for interested people who would like to make a difference in their community. The New Tampa Community Council has been the primary community advocate for almost 13 years. The actions of your neighbors and members of the NTCC, have supported efforts that resulted in the establishment of The New Tampa Regional Library, locating the sight, upon which, Benito Middle School now sits, participated as the main force in advocating transportation improvements in our area and the producer and primary sponsor in establishing the biggest community event for the past 12 years, the Taste of New Tampa. The Taste has contributed thousands of dollars annually to local schools and worthy causes which directly or indirectly affect New Tampa. WE NEED NEW PEOPLE TO GET INVOLVED. We have so much to be thankful for in New Tampa, but it takes the action of concerned citizens to make it all happen. Contact Jamie Thorne at 973-9919 or visit Postnet at the Super Target shopping center near Pizza Supremo for information and an application for the Board. It requires about 3 hours per month to attend a board meeting and general meeting and additional volunteer hours for The Taste of New Tampa. NEW TAMPA NEEDS YOU!
Don’t forget Mayor Pam Iorio’s Town hall Meeting, July 15 at Tampa Palms Country Club at 6:30 pm. The public is invited to this important community meeting that will also feature City Councilman Shawn Harrison, Chief of Police, Stephen Hogue, Fire Chief Aria Green and 0our own Neighborhood Administrator Santiago Corrada. This is a unique opportunity to have direct input to the City of Tampa for New Tampa. Don’t miss it.
On August 11 at 6:30pm at The New Tampa Regional Library, our own Carol Polland has organized an important County Commission Candidate Forum. This will give us all an up close and personal look at who may be guiding over a BILLION DOLLARS in county tax money every year. Make sure you arrive early to assure a seat. This will be approximately 2 weeks before the primary for the open district and countywide seats.
Finally on Tuesday, September 28th at 6:30 at the New Tampa Wingate Hotel, the Council will hold our Annual Meeting and Business Expo. At this meeting, the new Board members for the upcoming year will be announced. Call the Council; at 319-0879 to reserve your booth, the space is limited.
See you around New Tampa,
Frank Margarella President
